What is a leadership coach or an executive coach?

What do you have to do to be a successful executive or career coach?

Many people use the words executive coach and leadership coach interchangeably.  Basically, it’s all about developing organizational leadership. An executive coach first and foremost helps you develop as a person. Only then can you tap into your potential as a visionary leader.

It all starts with deep self-analysis so that you thoroughly know yourself, your passions, your interests, your talents and skill set, your strengths and weakness, and you also deeply understand the values that drive you. Do you know how to bring out the best within yourself and inspire others to do the same?  Can you build a solid team which works cohesively to master their self-defined objectives? If not, you might want to consider hiring a leadership or executive coach.

A leadership coach can help you hone in on your most compelling attributes while you simultaneously harness your ability to motivate and inspire.   An executive coach can be instrumental to helping an organization succeed in today’s highly competitive business environment.

How effective is executive coaching or leadership coaching?

We’ll let the statistics speak for themselves.  Manchester, Inc conducted a study of 100 executives, mostly from Fortune 100 companies.

Approximately 53% of the respondents reported increases in productivity, 48% saw improvements in organizational strength, and 39% improved their customer service.  About 77% reported better relationships with people who reported directly to them while 71% had improve relationships with their immediate supervisors.  Better teamwork and improved relationships with their peers were acknowledged by 67% and 63% of the respondents, respectively.

Advantages of working with a leadership coach

  • An executive coach guides you in making the people you work with the “only people in the world”.  This will permit your team to achieve virtually any job objective you set your collective minds to.
  • As a result of leadership coaching you can build confidence in others and inspire trust. This, in turn, leads to developing and sustaining superior human relationships, which can benefit any forward-thinking organization.
  • A leadership coach can help you identify and extend your facility to seize the initiative such that you start fast and finish strong.  You will come to delight in taking decisive massive action when necessary.

Working with a leadership coach can help you better the temperament and behavioral patterns of co-workers and others you interact with regularly.  You become a better people-reader because you learn to listen intently and empathetically.
