HubPages – Could It Be Your Business Central Hub?
HubPages gives you yet another way to increase your online presence and network with those who could use your product or service.
Success in an online business is all about getting traffic to your website so people can learn about your product or service. One way to get exposure is through content sharing sites.
HubPages is new (launched in August 2006) but already powerful, with 21 million visitors to their site monthly. Search engines like Google and Yahoo consistently rank HubPages high.
HubPages is similar to Squidoo. Members are called “hubbers” and their contributions are called “hubs”. Contributors post content to these content sharing sites because quality articles and information can attract visitors. Revenue comes from ads posted to the websites via Google Ad Sense.
HubPages also has advertising programs that their members can link to with eBay and Amazon Affiliates program. As of February 2010, HubPages is among the 100 most visited online sites with 694,945 published hubs, 131,951 published users, 800,925 forum posts and more than 21 million visits monthly
This is a fun and profitable way to use your own creativity, expertise and experience. If you create and contribute quality content with interesting, useful information and pertinent links, you receive revenue in proportion to the amount of traffic you generate.
There is no charge for joining, and there are several ways you share in the revenue, besides Google Adsense.
But the chief value is the traffic that could flow over to your business’s website and help it to grow. HubPages can be a valuable hub from which radiates revenue and traffic to help your own business roll.
Here are ten ways that you can take advantage of this venue:
- HubPages is one location you can use to inform potential customers about your product or service. If your site contains interesting, useful and well written content your readers will want to investigate other links you include such as ones to your own business.
- Build a reputation as the helpful and reliable authority in your field. Many visitors are looking for answers to problems. Be the one they know they can relay on and you will become that brand they trust and will recommend to others. Your problems solving ideas can become part of your articles.
- Your product or service should be related to the articles you submit. You want to attract potential customers by showing your expertise and desire to be helpful in the area of your business.
- Providing useful information and valuable links to pertinent sites besides yours is good public relations and will encourage visitors to trust you and remember you when they have need of your business
- HubPages shares 60% of the revenue your site generates through Google Adsense. You can promote your business and make money without any expense to you, if you are willing to provide genuinely valuable content to readers.
- You don’t need to have a business website to benefit from HubPage! Your HubPages site can serve as a website. Through HubPages’ promotions and the high ranking of their website on search engines, you have built-in assistance in getting traffic for your site. But I do recommend you take advantage of the benefits of your own website.
- There is no limit to the number of hubs you can own. You can enlarge your presence by having content in multiple sites. The more exposure you get, the better, and the more revenue you may be able to generate. Just be sure you are able to create quality, original content for each separate site.
- Stroll around online to other hub pages, especially ones that have content similar to yours. If you have a useful comment, add it. This will enrich their hub, and you can include a backlink to yours. If you don’t have a website of your own this is a very simple way to generate visits to your hubs.
- Videos really add interest and class to any site, if done well. Many people enjoy watching a video more than reading an article. A well done video will impress people and pique their interest in your other hubs or your website.
- Other hubbers can be your allies in promoting your business if you establish an online relationship. Leaving comments and links on each other’s websites is mutually beneficial, and fellow hubbers will appreciate your invitations to leave comments.
- Each time you publish a hub, HubPages sends a notification to all your readers about your new contribution. Take advantage of this feature by publishing new, original material regularly. This will encourage additional traffic to your site and to any backlinks included in your material.
- Ensure that your content is original. Any copy/paste publishing will destroy your credibility and undo all your hard work. People value originality, authenticity and integrity, and those are the values you want to demonstrate in all your work. You want everyone to associate your sites, your products or your services with quality and reliability.
So, could HubPages be your “central hub”?
This content sharing site can be a strategic hub for you. I know a marketer whosays he pays his mortgage just about every month with his revenue from hubpages. I think it’s worth a try. Don’t you?

Hi Angela,
I love Hubpages! I started my online marketing there. I haven’t posted there in a long time but I do occasionally retweet my hubs. I haven’t made enough Adsense money to pay my mortgage but I have made enough to pay for my main website hosting. Nice post!

Hi, Roland,
I love HubPages, but I have to give my pages some more love too. There are only 24 hours in a day, but I think HubPages can be quite worth the effort. Thanks for the comment.
Angela
Hub Pages are something that I have never considered! I thank you for this information!
Linda
I have heard of Hubpages but I’m not very familiar with it. Thank you for giving me an idea here, I think I may want to consider this method to increase my online presence. If there’s one thing I have learned about success in blogging, it is: Be EVERYWHERE.
Yes, I agree, Walter. We need to be everywhere online – all at the same time. Thanks for visiting.

Hi Angela,
I’ve just finished reading your Hubpages and Squidoo articles … both very useful and informative.
These services are new to me … so I have a question. Which one should I use first? My time is limited so I don’t think I can work with both at the same time.
Thanks for sharing this valuable information,
Susan
Hi, Susan,
If I were you, I’d start with HubPages first. That’s just my personal preference. I prefer HubPages, but make sure you submit original content. They want postings and articles that you have not submitted elsewhere. So if you plan to syndicate your content across the net, go to HubPages first. Hope this helps.
