Today it’s known amongst all serious business owners that all businesses need Facebook. This internet sensation is very low cost but grants the ability to build a financial empire.

Businesses of all types utilize it, from network marketing to bricks and mortar. Facebook’s viral nature means that your business can be thriving in just a few days. It is the largest, fastest growing website in history and your business should not be without it.

Facebook is not just geared towards youth, either. It would have been hard to predict twenty years ago but baby boomers have hit social media by storm. Virtually all of my friends are on Facebook.

At over one billion users, Facebook is where every marketer wants to be. It plugs you into a wealth of potential customers, clients, distributors and business partners.

A few key points on getting started with Facebook marketing:

1. Set up a facebook account.

2. Create a fun and compelling profile. Write down the things that you want to share with others. This will help foster engagement, and keep communication flowing between you and your friends.

3. Upload a photograph that you want to represent you online. This is part of branding, and you’ll want to use the same photo for all of your marketing products.

Use a flattering photo. Stay away from long shots – people want to see what you look like.

Be aware, it’s not that people are judging your appearance, they want to know that you are a real live, flesh and blood person that they can relate to. You can be so ugly that your mother won’t kiss you and people won’t care so long as you offer them value and solutions. If you do that they will follow you to the ends of the earth.

I spoke with my son about marketing my business on Facebook and the first thing he asked was, “What photo are you going to use?“ He informed me that a photo I’d chosen that plainly showed my natural grey hair made me look, “too old.” I have a young soul and vibrant energy but he argued my picture, “showed none of that.”

After some contemplation I decided to stick with the photo I had chosen. My profile picture is the real me and I’ve never been one to pretend to be something or someone I’m not. My life is my own and I live it proudly. Perhaps there is someone out there who would choose to judge me by my photo but that it not someone I care to conduct business with in the first place. I truly believe that my profile photo never hindered me in terms of business development.

4. Create a group. Groups are a quick and relatively effortless why to help your fans and followers organize around common interests, problems and solutions.

5. Create a Fan Page. Fan pages are designed for businesses, organizations, celebrities, etc. Every business that is serious about creating a following online must create a Fan Page.

6. Start following the leaders in your industry and comment when you see something interesting. Send out friend requests to people you want to associate with. Add a thoughtful and intriguing to each friend request.

7. Post status updates that are helpful. Don’t overly promote your deal. Make your posts about 80% content and 20% or less promotion. Remember, everyone likes to buy, but no one wants to be sold.

8. Don’t spam. You will be removed from Facebook in no time flat if you are a spammer.

9. Start adding friends and liking fan pages.

10. Create an event and start getting some buzz. It’s time to add the sizzle to the steak.

Confidence is the primary factor. Believing and trusting in your talents, company, products and services is at the crux of success here. Furthermore, you must have a rock solid, unwavering belief in the industry of network marketing.

There is no place for doubt if you seek to recruit great leaders. A person of indecisiveness reeks of incompetence. We can all immediately tell when a person lacks confidence. Your path leads to real wealth and freedom. You are a steel train that cannot be slowed. The end of your path finds you with an array of freedom – financial freedom, freedom of time and personal freedom.

Leaders are drawn to other leaders, therefore you must become one and foster belief in yourself. The world cannot know you as a leader if you do not know yourself as one.

Once you ease into the mentality of leading you’ll find that leads come without effort as does money and business.

Fear and uncertainty wash away once you make it to the mountain top. Hesitation no longer occurs and interacting with leads seems ridiculously easy.

Your prowess on the telephone will become such that in the span of one phone call you’ll have prospects who will not rest until they join your business.

Those valuable, coveted leaders will appear at your doorstep once you say goodbye to fear. Also, you’ll find that you develop leaders as well to ripen into their greatest potential.

You don’t need any previous knowledge base.
You don’t have to worry about mastering tricky and confusing internet techy stuff.
Your new attitude will prevent you from wasting time talking with losers.
You will attract more high-quality leads.
You will have fewer hand-holding representatives, so you can make more money and enjoy more freedom than you ever imagined.

It goes without saying that there are countless other strategies that you can apply to your business. They all share common traits which dictate their success – your attitude and communication are essential.

Check out past meetups and reviews
Check out leadership team
Check out related meetups
If anything gives you the creeps, bail out, and find another meetup.

I always check to see how active a group is or see if they have upcoming meetups before I join a group. Meeting with real people can make a tremendous difference. Top 3 Prospecting Tactics

The top earners in network marketing are also top prospectors. The two go hand-in-hand.

I enjoy prospecting. I do believe that the more time you spend prospecting, the better you’ll become at it. But you’ve got to have a servant leader’s mentality. You’ve got to love helping people and showing them how to solve their problems. You’ve got to love listening to people. If you don’t possess those attitudes, start working on them now because they are critical to your success in network marketing.

I must admit that I probably talk a little bit too much, but I’m getting better at it. I just love the whole communications aspect of marketing. I was taught long ago that God gave us two ears and one mouth for a reason. We should listen twice as much as we talk. I’ve been implementing that ever since.

Now, let’s take a look at my top 3 prospecting tactics.

Combine offline and online marketing methods. I know most of us, including myself, are enamored with the prospect of building a business on autopilot. Everyone tells us how we can make money while we sleep. Don’t believe the hype. Marketing of any kind takes effort. You cannot phone in your marketing. You’ve got to out there in the trenches and market so that you can relax later. In network marketing we generally work the hardest during the first couple of years. We are generally a bit underpaid, in my estimation, for the amount of work that we do. But once our teams reach momentum, we are vastly overpaid for the work we do. Just imagine a snowball rolling down the side of a snow-covered hill. First it is small, and it has almost no speed at all. But as it gets larger, it accelerates. Then it becomes unstoppable. That’s exactly how network marketing works. Network marketing is not get rich quick, but it could be “get rich forever” if you work it properly. The keyword here is “work”. NetWORK marketing works if you do. It’s not fast and easy, but it is simple.
Make friends with your telephone. Repeat after me – “The telephone is my secret weapon.” Many marketers today want to rely strictly on passive marketing. They don’t want to talk to their warm market, and they don’t want to call anyone. I understand that. Really, I do. But for most people, it is the wrong way to go. This business is a people business. It grows stronger when we have solid relationships with our team members. One of the best, fastest, and surest ways to develop team cohesion is by using the telephone and talking directly with your prospects and team members. Believe me, it works.
Develop a 90-Day Marketing Plan with a focus on recruiting and sponsoring. Having a written plan with help to keep you on task. You make your plan quantifiable so you know when you hit your goals. Tweak your plan every 30 days. Work with your strengths. If you are a great writer then article marketing and blogging should be part of your toolkit. If you are an excellent videographer, then you should most definitely employ video marketing and become friends with all of the top video sharing sites. Create a new marketing plan every 90-Days. Longevity is one of the keys to becoming a master prospector. With longevity comes increased confidence and posture. You know deep in your bones that you are a person of value. You know your capabilities. That is extremely attractive to people, so your prospecting automatically becomes easier. All people are attracted to strength and power.

It’s virtually impossible to grow a large, sustainable network marketing business if you don’t build a large team. Building a large team requires you to become a master prospector and a top sponsor.

1. You are a shameless self-promoter.

You never provide value to your friends and fans. You are always pushing your deal. Every status update you make has a self-serving link.

If you publish 10 updates a day, 9 of them are selling something. People have long ago stopped listening to you. Some of your good friends even block your status updates.

People are removing your comments from their newsfeeds. They never read what you have to say. You are cluttering up your precious Facebook real estate.

2. You’re too friendly.

Yes, we are dealing with social media, but you are having too much fun. You are so relaxed that you have completely forgotten about growing your business. You haven’t sold any products, sponsored anyone, or made any money.

Your fans and friends regard you as a friend but not a businessperson. You never offer any value.

Your updates look like this:

I’m taking Fluffy for a walk now.
I’m at Starbuck drinking my morning coffee.
I’m going shoe shopping today.
I have to get some dog food.
I’m eating Chinese food tonight.
Yada, yada, yada

Some of your most avid friends might consider these updates entertaining, but mostly they are boring and they don’t do anything to help you grow your business. Let’s try to solve your target market’s problems and deal with the issues they face everyday.

3. You don’t engage your friends and fans.

You may publish a lot of inspirational quotations. I have to admit. I’m a sucker for self-help phrases. I’m all over anything that’s motivational. I eat it all up.

“If it’s to be it’s up to me.”

“When the going gets tough, the tough get going”.

“A winner never quits and a quitter never wins.

“Whether you think you can or you think you can’t, you’re right.”

I mean, who can’t get goose pimples just thinking of the implications of those famous quotations. But what do YOU actually add to the equation?

If you want to use a bunch of quotations, at least, created some buzz or discussion around the concepts. Just shooting out rapid-fire quotations one after another is not really adding a lot of value. Also, those of us who have been on Facebook for awhile now have probably seen and read most of the sayings that people are sharing.

Facebook is all about engagement and communication. You’ve got to start a conversation and keep it going as long as you can without it going stale. Facebook is like a house party, and no one likes a boring party. If you don’t keep people entertained, they’ll leave your party for the one around the corner.

Every successful internet marketer uses social media to help them grow their businesses.

We hear a great deal about Facebook, but we don’t know quite as much about Facebook’s little sister, Twitter. Of the two, Twitter is definitely easier to use and get started with. Major celebrities like Ashton Kucher are using Twitter.

Would you like to use Twitter as a primary beachhead for your online marketing campaigns.

Twitter is in the vanguard of social networking and microblogging. Instead of creating and writing a blog post to tell your friends, family, and business associates what you are doing, you can create a short tweet which would explain the same thing. Tweets are status updates which are, at most, 140 characters long.

Twitter is wildly popular and now has more than 200,000,000 (yes, that’s 200 million) users. Can you imagine how you might utilize a form of social media that can put about 400 million eyeballs on your content? Can you see the potential here?

The first thing you’ll want to do is open an account at twitter.com. You give them some basic information like your email address, your name, etc., and you are good to go.

You can then create a profile. Make sure your profile is fun and compelling and helps you stand out from the crowd in a good way. Make it attractive. Do you sound like the kind of person you would like to meet? If not, go back to the drawing board, and make yourself more interesting.

Select an appropriate photo to represent you on Twitter. It should be the same photograph you are using on your various social media sites. Your photo could also be your business logo, if you have one.

Write up a nice biography. This is similar to an about page that you would use on your blog. Make people want to become your friends.

If you have a website, you’ll want to make note of that on Twitter also. If you don’t have a website, type in the URL of any webpage that you would like to send your friends and followers to. This should be an excellent way to begin to capture email addresses.

You can use Twitter to help establish you as an expert in your niche. Give lots of content and value. Answer some of the questions that people ask most in your niche. When people see that you know what you are talking about, they will follow you in droves.

Another way to get started on Twitter is to search for the gurus in your niche and start following them. Then you can start following the people who are following gurus. Most people will follow you back if you follow them.

You’ll want to aim for quality over quantity. It doesn’t matter how many followers you have. What really matters is how many of your followers will do what you ask them to do?

Will they click on your links?
Will they visit the sites you ask them to?
Will they opt in to see the videos and get the training you recommend?

That’s what happens when you create a compelling social media presence and become a true person of influence.

There’s a lot more to learn about Twitter marketing. You’ll want to master Twitter etiquette so you’ll never be accused of spamming. You’ll want to shorten your links so you can stuff your 140 characters or less with pure, solid gold content.

Become a recruiting machine!

One of my most persistent dreams is to retire to a tropical paradise, enjoying sun and surf, surrounded by my loved ones. I’d have a compound, large enough to house any of my nuclear and extended family and friends who wanted to escape the rat race and get off the hamster wheel at least temporarily.

Can you see it? You can live a relaxing life, lying in a hammock eating pineapple all day. Or you can live an exciting retirement, traveling the globe, visiting exotic locations and waking up every morning energized by the possibilities that life may present to you.

I even created a blog devoted to this fantasy. It’s amazing how many folks have this same retirement plan. But is it truly a realistic plan. Can we escape the grind of the new form of indenture-servitude many of us are experiencing? Is there any end in sight?

Well, there is light at the end of the tunnel – for the hustler!

Are you a hustler?

What separates the hopers from the hustlers, is that the hustlers take action. The hustlers implement. The hustlers plan and execute.

I have found such a hustler who is and has been laser-FOCUSED on achieving his goals. FOCUS means “Firmly On Course Until Success”.

He is living the life of his (and my) dreams. Defying all odds, he and his family (yes, he can support a family) are living a beach-bum existence in Costa Rica. He is a network marketer who has personally sponsored 450 reps in just over 9 months into his network marketing company that has a $500 minimum start-up cost. He is also the #1 recruiter in the largest attraction marketing system on the net – having personally enrolled more than 1500 people in a little more than a year.

How is this possible?

Well, he has shared some of his wisdom.

Be persistent with your message. Realize that your time is now. It is not in the future. The time is now, so seize the time.
Don’t’ change what you are doing until after you have mastered the strategy you are currently implementing. Many people quit just before they are about to achieve success. Do you know the poem, “Don’t Quit”? If not, look it up on the internet. It’s one of my favorite poems. It’s inspirational, motivational, and heartfelt. You can win, if you stay the course. It reminds me of the expression, “A winner never quits, and a quitter never wins.”
Create a little bit of content every day.

It seems really simple, doesn’t it? Well, most truths are simple.

Of course, there is more to it than that, but I’ve given you just enough for you to get started on the road to success.

Leverage the Power of the Internet in Your Home Based Business

That’s pretty much a no-brainer, right?

If you are not using the internet to leverage the power of whatever business you are in, you are committing entrepreneurial suicide. The internet is the future to commerce.

Let’s say, you are in business, and you are generating lots of leads for your business. Leads are great, but you also want to be able to convert those leads.

There are several companies online that say they can increase your conversions. This idea is potentially very powerful because you end up with more customers, clients, or distributors without increasing your work load or your efforts. In fact, you don’t have to do anything extra, but you are automatically more profitable.

So, sure, everyone wants to double their conversions, but how, exactly, does that work?

Well, if you are not a very techy person, you pay someone to

design your webpages,
write your web copy,
select a template and color palette for your offers and capture pages,
write an autoresponder email and follow-up sequence for you
create videos for you
design and write your thank you page for you
write your sales copy for you
spilt test all of your pages
and much, much more …

Or you can find one of the online companies that will do all of that for you.

When you are starting out, I suggest very strongly, that you find a company that can do all of the above (and more) for you. After all, you want to spend most of your time actually talking with potential clients, customers, distributors, or business partners. Your focus should be on establishing rapport and building relationships with people, and let the tech guys do what they do best.

Connecting with such a company is one of the smartest things a beginner can do. This helps eliminate all of the frustration and the overwhelm that many feel when they come online. After all, there is a great deal to learn. That’s why you want to stick with what you do best, and leave the coding and design to others.

I learned from experience. Even though I can and have done all of the above, I know that sometimes my blog looked wonky, and the design and page layout was not quite what I wanted. It took me a ton of time to learn, and I wasted my first couple of years online trying to do and learn everything myself.

I was starting from scratch and had no marketing budget. I thought I had to start that way.

Boy, was I wrong!

If I were starting all over now, I would definitely outsource building my blog and creating my capture pages. After all, if you connect with tech guys who are masters of copyrighting, page design, and conversions, you’ll be in profit much faster than you think. And getting into immediate profit is what keeps you in the game – while not making immediate money takes most people out of the game in a month or so.

When you first start out, you might not be too comfortable asking for the sale, so why not piggy back with others who specialize in very compelling ways to easily sell your prospects.

So, if:

you’re new to the internet;
you’re new to network marketing;
you’re just starting out and never sponsored anyone;
you’ve never created any content;
you’ve never written an article;
you’ve never created a video;
you don’t have a Facebook page;
you have no idea what Twitter is …

I encourage you very strongly to connect with a proven, reputable company that can give you:

predesigned optin forms
killer sales pages
system campaigns
autoresponder email messages and follow-ups
must-have products and services that create tons of affiliate marketing opportunities
and much, much more.

This is very hard for me to say. You see, I come from a long line of know-it-alls. I have finally reached the stage of my life where I can admit to being a know-it-all. But if you want to succeed in business and in life, you’ve got to face the facts.

One of the truths of MLM is that you must be a student of the industry and a student of the heavy hitters who are already accomplishing the things that you want to achieve.

So, what I’m going to tell you about right now is that you first and foremost, must come face to face with the concept that you have a lot to learn.

The main thing that keeps all entrepreneurs at ground zero is that they think they know things simply because they read them in a book. Well, “reading” and “doing” are not the same thing. “Doing” and “knowing” are different things, also.

I am a Jeff Walker-trained product launch manager. He drilled into our heads that the two things that we would hear the most in talking with entrepreneurs is:

I knew that.
I disagree.

That is so true. Someone asks you a question, and you answer it. Then they say, “Well, that’s not a big deal. I already knew that.”

Well the main thing is, no, they didn’t really know that. If they already knew that, they would be implementing more. They would have better results to show for their efforts. You won’t really grow until you accept the fact that maybe you don’t know what you think you know. Maybe you don’t truly understand it at all.

I can’t tell you how many times I didn’t listen as well as I should have because I thought I already knew what someone was trying to tell me. Now, it’s just the opposite with me. If I see someone who is consistently getting better results than I am, I will listen and implement intently. I want to know everything they know, and then some.

So, I will give you what I consider to be three of the most important “Sponsoring Secrets” – that you might already know all about.

Continually develop yourself as a person and as a distributor. You are a professional. Act like one. Get professional training. Implement the training as soon as you learn it. Learn about your company, your products/services, and your industry. When you “know” more, you “do” more. Get into action today.
Find a study buddy or accountability coach. If you can’t find one, just contact me. I will try my best to put you in touch with some of the great people in this industry that I know.
Develop the posture of a winner. When you develop the posture of a master recruiter, you instinctively make a critical evaluation of your time and how it is spent and with whom. You don’t waste your time with tire-kickers. You don’t try to convince or overly explain. You come from a position of strength.

Well, I’ve just given you the tip of the iceberg here. There is so much more to being a recruiting machine who can continually sponsor leaders who are deadly serious about building a full-time, walk-away-from-your-job-forever income with network marketing.

I’ve said it many times: network marketing works, if you do. You can become a recruiting magician if you get the proper training and if you use the appropriate tools. You can learn how to persuade and influence prospects so you can begin building your fortune today.
